A Beautiful Value 4K Samsung…

The new QLED screens from Samsung look incredible. The Q60 is a budget 4K TV and supports 60hz. Higher end models support 120hz. The TV settings are simple. I set up it up as dynamic and it looks great on everything so far. The TV remote is the typical Samsung black remote. The remote is smaller due to no physical number buttons. You have to go through a menu to change the channels. The home button takes you to all the goodies that the TV is capable of including the settings and smart features. The remote has a solar panel, so it’s a nice eco friendly touch they added. I used Bixiby before and it wasn’t that great. Which brings up the smart functionality of the HDTV. I think it’s a problem you have to sign away your privacy to use the smart functionality, which other brands don’t do. So Samsung has all the analytics from what you watch, how long you watch it…… It’s a bit creepy knowing that they track everything on the HDTV. There’s a Netflix and Prime button on the remote as well. I tried out Samsung's interface and it was adequate. In general, I prefer using an external streaming device instead.
I bought a new HDMI switch that supports 4K and 60hz. After being detected, the Samsung interface went through a process and it works fine so far. I added my Nintendo Switch, Panasonic Blu-Ray player, and Xbox One to the HDMI switch. I have the Apple TV 4K and Sony PS5 connected directly into the TV. I’m still waiting on the Xbox Series X to become available since it’s sold out. I watched several movies, TV shows, sporting events, and other content including gaming. It looks great and I haven’t seen any significant lag issues, when gaming. Something I worried about with the 60hz refresh rate. There’s a gaming mode on the TV, which autodetects. You have to set up the devices as well going through the menu system. After watching Justice League, The Falcon and the Winter Solider, Godzilla Vs Kong as showcase content and playing games like God of War with the new 4K update, The Last of Us Part II, I can not say enough about how good it looks. The blacks are solid, the colors are rich and vibrant, images are crisp and lively, and sound quality is decent. I have a soundbar or a 2.1 set up as well to improve the sound quality for movies and gaming.
Overall, it’s a solid value 4K HDTV from Samsung that can play the latest 4K movies, TV shows. HD content from cable TV, sports, and console games with a caveat or two.
